As the Director of People, you will lead the People function at Jarvis and work to improve and create best-in-class HR practices. With a thorough understanding of HR policies and standards, the Director of People will lead the overall development and execution of HR strategy, including the support of the professional development of employees, guiding all people leaders on best practices, and managing Total Rewards to drive efficiency and automation across the organization.
What You’ll Do
HR Strategy & Project Management (30%):
- Build People Programs:
- Develop and implement HR programs, policies, procedures, and ad-hoc projects that align with our company goals.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Build, iterate on, and streamline our HR processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing efficient solutions.
- Recruitment Strategy & Headcount Planning:
- Oversee internal recruitment strategy through planning of interview stages, recommended compensation, approval process, headcount planning, etc.
- HR Efficiency & Automation:
- Refine workflows and processes connected to the HR process, such as onboarding, offboarding, employee lifecycle, and compensation and organizational changes.
Employee Relations & HR Support (30%):
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related matters, including policy interpretation and conflict resolution.
- Stay on top of relevant labour laws in all company locations (Toronto, Quebec, Bosnia) and regulations and execute the steps needed to stay compliant.
- Main point of contact for all HR escalations, terminations, disciplinary action, etc.
Total Rewards (20%):
- Compensation:
- Uphold established pay bands for the organization and maintain Pay Equity standards.
- Evaluate new jobs using Job Evaluation Tool, determine job levels, pay bands etc.
- Payroll & Contract Management
- Centralize and own the payroll process for the various streams within the organization, and collaborate with Finance to execute payroll logs.
- Manage all employee contracts within the company, including internal staff and consultants, adjusting payroll accordingly.
DEI, Culture and Engagement (20%):
- DEI:
- Develop and executive diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) practices, programs and strategies at Jarvis that support our cultural mission of equalizing opportunity and maximizing potential.
- Monitor and report on DEI metrics and progress, making recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Culture and Engagement:
- Cultivate a positive, inclusive workplace culture that aligns with our core values and mission through programs to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
- Own the strategy for internal and external community engagement that encourages a world-class company culture and employee experience.
What You’ll Bring
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7-8+ years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing successful DEI strategies and fostering a positive workplace culture.
- In-depth understanding and application of HR best practices, employment law, and organizational development.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and drive change effectively.
- Experience with contract and compensation negotiations.
- Previous experience using HRIS (we use intelliHR) and Applicant Tracking Systems
Nice-to-Haves:
- CHRP or CHRL certification
- Bilingual in English and French
